Elton John brought his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' world tour to an end after performing in Stockholm over five years and 333 shows, at Tele2 Arena.

To commemorate this important occasion and mark Elton's retirement as a performer he performed the final song from this tour: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road at Tele2 Arena.

Before performing, Elton John expressed his thanks to all 45,000 attendees for supporting him throughout his career.

John acknowledged their contribution through album sales and ticket purchases as integral members of his musical journey.

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," originally released as Elton John's seventh studio album's title track and second single, first came to public view in 1973.

It landed top ten positions on charts worldwide, including in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand Norway and South Africa.

According to setlist.fm's count Elton John has performed this song live about 1475 times since 1959 - this timeframe being 50 years.

This song has become the final number at nearly every performance on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour since September 2018.

Starting in Pennsylvania and covering North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand until March 2020 -

Following a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic and hip injury, the tour resumed in January 2022 and ran for 18 months, becoming one of the highest grossing world tours ever undertaken.
