Tony Bennett, an iconic American singer and pianist, passed away peacefully at home in New York City at age 96 on Friday afternoon.

He became widely revered through his legendary hit "I Left My Heart in San Francisco", making an impactful connection with fans from different generations.

Frank Sinatra once described Bennett as the "best singer in the business" during their rise to stardom during the 1950s.

Over his impressive career, Bennett amassed 20 Grammy awards - including one lifetime achievement award!

Over time, Bennett collaborated with numerous artists such as Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson and Bono.

He celebrated his 90th birthday with an extravagant gala event held in New York City and attended by celebrities like Bruce Willis and John Travolta.

Bennett bravely discussed his struggle with Alzheimer's disease since being diagnosed in 2016 and continued recording music regardless.

Due to his illness, Bennett officially retired from performing music in 2021, ending a remarkable career in the music industry.
